Education Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.

Clearance Requirements:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position:


General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced FPGA Design Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Representative Duties and Tasks:

Advanced FPGA Design Engineers design, develop and test military electronic equipment and systems at GDMS including: avionics mission computers, stores management systems, signal and radar processing systems and related equipment
Will participate in a team environment to execute FPGA Digital Logic Design, Synthesis, Timing Analysis, Verification, and development unit test activities
Responsible for design, verification, associated documentation for FPGA development, design revision control and archival of design files
Implements detailed FPGA design approach, execute place/route, timing closure and confidence level testing
Participates in the generation of FPGA test and verification plans establishing functional criteria to ensure requirements are correctly implemented
Participates in the execution of verification plans and assists in development unit testing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Looking for an experienced FPGA digital logic Design Engineer. The position requires familiarity with a variety of digital logic design techniques including PWB, electronic module, and development unit test
Self-starter, able to translate requirements into a cost-effective design optimized for manufacturing and periodic operational maintenance
Must be able to multitask and prioritize while dealing with several projects
Will participate in a team environment to execute FPGA Logic Design activities targeting Xilinx, Altera or MicroSemi FPGAs, Synthesis, Timing closure, Verification and development unit testing
Verilog expert and familiar with System Verilog
Familiar with high speed network switch design approaches
Experience designing high speed interfaces and complex memory designs
Design experience with protocols such as DDR, 10G Ethernet, Fibre Channel and PCIe in networking applications. Also, experience integrating 3rd party IP
Familiar with embedded micro-processing systems
Experience using constrained random verification approaches
Successfully participated in design or verification activities to ensure implementation and verification of all requirements
Familiar with Mentor Questa
Board and Module digital logic design experience and been a member of a successful integration team
Expertise with various scripting languages
Salary Note: This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. Combined Salary Range: USD $116,960.00 - USD $129,791.00 /Yr. Company Overview:
