Position: Head of Operations Location: Shipley Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 Sector: Engineering/Manufacturing The Head of Operations will have strategic and tactical responsibility and vision for implementing a forward-thinking production strategy that maximises efficiency, drives operational excellence that will optimise production levels. You will be seeking for best in class production and business practices to deliver against customer expectations, managing teams and projects across the business. You will be providing strong and clear leadership standards that will motivate and inspire operational and engineering teams to achieve the company goals and standards, whilst mentoring managers to develop new skills and leadership practices. Taking responsibility for and driving the overall Communication & Management of Operational reporting results and management of Operational functions within Material supply, Business planning, Support facilities and Manufacturing. Duties: Ensure all operational departments work to achieve the committed Budget & targets whilst maintaining cost, quality and delivery commitments to both internal and external customers. Develop internal strategy to improve and grow the business in conjunction with the Site Director and the Senior Management Team Identification of and mitigating action of risk & opportunity within all operational and project led plans To set & achieve Yearly, Monthly & weekly Orders, Sales, cash & Earning targets Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP). Provide information on and maintain KPIs, Operational excellence in line with business objectives & initiatives and provide Business planning, Sales & Operations Planning data and forecasting information requirements on a regular basis. Budgetary responsibility for all material, direct and indirect labour operational overhead costs in line with targets. Responsibility for and reporting of improvement initiatives (for example 80/20 & inventory reduction). Capacity analysis of people, parts & equipment. Define, acquire & manage resource requirements in terms of space, efficiency, manpower, tools & equipment to meet commitments and future growth requirements. Be a part of the Senior management team providing regular performance updates to senior management. Direct management of Operational supervisory & Management functions. Managing workforce through supervisory chain of command. Management of internal and external resource making decisions to meet the Business plans. Internal liaison with other departments. Customer and Supplier point of contact for escalation outside of the normal communication channels Creating a culture of continuous improvement & supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives and Risk & opportunity management Succession planning and staff development through appraisal, training & development of all operations employees to carry out their duties and continue to develop to their best potential. Creation & Input to customer bids, generating proposals and engaging with existing and new customer to facilitate new business in conjunction with Sales and Product Line Managers. Support to the New Product Introduction activities. Maintenance of and compliance with Company operating procedures and processes. Ensure all HS&E requirements are supported, maintained, updated and complied with in conjunction with HS&E Advisor. Ensure all Quality requirements, Corporate and regulatory requirements are supported maintained, always updated and complied with in line with Management system and corporate expectations Management of the Import & Export organisation. Assist with internal and external audits. About You: Degree qualified with a good engineering technical background. Experience of developing and setting strategic direction. P&L experience. Proficient IT Skills especially in MS Office applications. Senior Operations Management and Leadership experience preferably within a high-volume material processing environment. Ability to manage specific resolution & improvement projects Knowledge of Change Management process Experience of Business Risk Management. Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills. The ability to drive and motivate others and achieve targets. Experience of working in a high technology market sector. Self-motivated. Able to work under pressure. The ability to implement and sustain Continuous Improvement activity within a production environment
