Job Summary

This position is responsible for the development of apprentices to fulfill the delivery of technical and safety training for Novinium field operations apprentices.  Candidates must be knowledgeable in electric theory, best practices in line industry procedure and safety, as well as willing to be proficient in all work scopes of Southwire services and cable rejuvenation operations. 

Candidates will need to develop and execute an effective apprenticeship program by delivering training through a variety of methods, including in-person/classroom, online, and webinar training formats.  This position requires you to work independently and as a part of a team. 

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute an apprenticeship program for Lineworkers that meets U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program requirements. 

- Manage projects related to the training and development of apprentices. 

- Build and maintain relationships, acting as the main point of contact with line schools. 

- Communicate and coordinate with apprentice schools and programs.

- Attend line school events. 

- Identify Mentors to champion the apprenticeship program. 

- Manage the apprenticeship classroom and on the job training programs to build and maintain a highly skilled workforce. 

- Monitor and maintain the on-the-job training hours of apprentices. 

- Promote the role of apprenticeship by appearing before employers, labor and community groups, and organizations. 

- Monitor the activities of apprentices to ensure apprentices are working within their qualifications. 

- Maintain effective communication with Mentors and apprentices. 

- Learn and understand Novinium operational work scope, procedures, Knomentous, NRIs, FOSH, injection processes, and industry best practices. 

- Supervise and participate in enforcing regulations, standards, laws, programs, and policies. 

- Research, develop, and deliver training content/curricula and materials for Novinium injection processes and procedures. 

- Work with field management to conduct training needs assessments and identify training gaps. 

- Liaise with Operations and Engineering Departments on matters related to failure analysis, injection procedures, training, and safety. 

Key Results

Ensuring the apprenticeship program: 

- Conforms with the requirements set forth within 29 CFR 29 within 6 months. 

- Receives provisional approval from the Office of Apprenticeship or Registration Agency within 6 months. 

- Becomes registered by the Office of Apprenticeship or Registration Agency within 2 years. 

- Successfully develops apprentices into qualified journeyman linemen. 


- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Electrical Engineering or a Journeyman level certification; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 

- A minimum of 3-5 years related professional experience, apprenticeship development experience required. 

- Area Manager and/or Project Management experience required. 

- Strong existing relationships with lineworker schools is a plus. 

- Knowledgeable in electric theory and in the equipment used in the electric industry. 

- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. 

- Ability to develop, design, and deliver best-in-industry training curricula. 

- Strong self-motivation, problem solving skills, and willingness to accept challenging projects. 

- Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office software. 

- Strong familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint and Teams. 

- Up to 50% travel required
