Empowering Learning are recruiting on behalf of a lovely Stoke-on-Trent secondary school for a Pastoral Officer/School Staff Instructor to start as soon as possible.

Level 5 (£23,953 to £26,927)Hours of this Pastoral Officer/School Staff Instructor role:

37 hours per week; full year Purpose this Pastoral Officer/School Staff Instructor role

School Staff Instructor - will act as the main point of contact (during specific allocated time periods) for the cadets within school.

During this time and in consultation with the Contingent Commander, they will provide logistical and organisational support for the unit by assisting in the preparation of an ongoing training programme and the provision of exercises and camps throughout the year.

Pastoral Officer - provide support and guidance to young people and those engaged with them, by removing barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning, raise aspirations and achieve their potential.

For this Pastoral Officer/School Staff Instructor role you will need:

DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one

Ability to manage a caseload of students

Supportive and empathetic nature

Be highly organised

Have at least six months experience working in a school or residential setting in a similar capacity or demonstrate a clear understanding of the job role and show how you would perform the role competently.

Be able to provide two professional references in the last 12 months

Be available for this Pastoral Officer/School Staff Instructor role Mon -Fri

Flexibility Clause As a term of your employment you may reasonably be expected to perform duties of a similar or related nature to those outlined in the job description.

Variation Clause This job description will be reviewed and updated periodically in order to ensure that it relates to the job performed, or to incorporate any proposed changes.

This procedure will be conducted by the Principal/Manager in consultation with the postholder.

In these circumstances it will be the aim to reach agreement on reasonable changes, but if agreement is not possible management reserves the right to make changes to the job description following consultation.

Fluency in English The post is covered by Part 7 of the immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this Pastoral Officer/School Staff Instructor role.
