We are looking to recruit passionate Relief Support Workers to join our dedicated team of support staff in Needham Market (Wade Bungalow). Do you want to make a positive difference to people s lives? For some people, Support Work is something they would love to do but life makes it difficult to commit to a full or part time position. That's where the role of a Relief Support Worker comes in! It gives you the flexibility to choose the shifts you want to work, based on your availability and the needs of the service. As a Relief Support Worker flexibility is key as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts. You should have the ability to work flexibly across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays and shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, sleep ins and waking nights. Your flexibility is therefore essential for us to be able to meet the needs of the people we support. Shifts vary including mornings, afternoons, evenings and waking nights. Shift times range from 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00-21:30 and waking nights which start at 21:30 and finishes 07:30. Flexibility is therefore essential for us to be able to meet the needs of the people we support. About the Service Wade Bungalow is positioned nicely in Needham Market, Suffolk. It is a 4 bedded bungalow for people with varying levels of learning disabilities. We currently have a vacant room. There are two ladies and one gent that lives at Wade. One lady is in her late 20 s. She has Autism and she communicates using technology. She attends day service twice a week and enjoys a vast range of activities from arts and crafts, cooking and walking to horse riding, buses and train rides! Routine and clear communication is vital to elevate stress and anxiety for this lady. She likes to plan activities so that she knows what is going to happen with her day/week. The other lady that lives here is in her early 50 s, she has a learning disability and is young at heart ! She is able to communicate verbally and enjoys a nice cappuccino! She enjoys watching films and DVD, especially Mr Tumble! She also enjoys having quiet time painting her nails, cutting up paper and arts and crafts. She also enjoys going out in her car to parks, for walks and picnics, pub lunches, shopping, visiting family, holidays and BBQ s. Our gent is in his 30 s and is not able to communicate verbally. He also has Autism. He communicates through making noises and uses some Makaton. He has severe learning disability and requires support in all aspects of daily life. He can also demonstrate some challenging behaviour, however, he is a very happy and playful gent, he enjoys being around people, he loves all things sensory, and we have a great sensory room within the bungalow which brings joy to all three people. He enjoys car, and train rides, eating out and nice food, walking in forests and by the sea. All three people have their own car, and we are looking for people with a full driving licence as their cars are essential them. They also have 1:1 support every day starting from 7am until 9.30pm and there is a waking night staff every night on site to support all three people. What does a Relief Support Worker do? As a Relief Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. Supporting people to live independently budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals. Relationship building supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships. Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality. Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day.This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
